Methods behind the money

Money

Campaign totals are the filing. Category share, plus PAC and connected-org names the FEC already printed. We do not store a home address. https://www.fec.gov/data/browse-data/?tab=bulk-data

Financial support, lobbying, public awards, bidders & defense contractors, related entities, and assets are separate pipes. We do not mash them into an influence score. A hole stays a hole. Names print only where a filing already named them. We do not store a home address.

Primary desks

Public filings. Follow the register. Names print only where the filing already names them.

How the pipes work

Methods are sequences on public filings. Names a register already printed — PAC, corporation, contractor, 990 related org — go on the page. We do not store a home address. Third-party reporting is not a corpus.

Lobbying register

Client names from LDA quarterly reports, as filed. The House is a government entity on the form — not a named member. We do not attach a client to a Representative.

Partial crawl. Not the full register.

Public awards

Grant recipients as USASpending filed them. Not mashed into campaign cash. We do not attach a recipient to a member.

Infrastructure lobbyist-awardees

DOT contract primes whose 2026 LDA client matches as filed — engineering and construction firms, not only the aviation primes. State DOTs are government recipients; they sit in the next list. Bechtel, Fluor, and Kiewit lobbied on infrastructure this window with no DOT prime under those names — that stays a hole. Transportation writes the rule. We do not attach a member.

Infrastructure awards

DOT grants and contracts as USASpending filed them. State DOTs are government recipients, not lobbyists. LDA prints only where the client name matches. Transportation writes the rule. We do not attach a member.

Organized retail crime grants

DOJ grants whose filed description names organized retail crime or retail theft. Recipients are police, DAs, and state patrols as USASpending named them. We do not attach Walmart, Target, or the NRF to these awards. Judiciary oversees DOJ. Co-occurrence is not a quid.

Retail LDA — no ORC award

These companies file LDA — several name the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (H.R.2853/S.1404) as a specific issue. They are not the USASpending recipient on the organized-retail-crime grants above. A commercial–police partnership is not inferred. Separate pipes.

After the award

LDA 2026 filings whose client name matches a USASpending awardee. Amounts are the filings. A foundation or employee club is a different EIN — we do not attach it. Co-occurrence is not a quid. We do not attach a recipient to a member.

Financial support

Mix is a category share. PAC and connected-organization names print as the FEC filed them. Lobbying on a member row is an LD-203 honoree filing — not proof that a client lobbied that office.
